Some Local initiatives Fresco has been involved with in the community

Project Green Lancaster - Millersville University

Millersville University is a a resource for the growing sustainability movement throughout South Central Pennsylvania. The website is researched and produced by students in the Department of Communication and Theatre at Millersville University.

Fresco Green is serving as an information hub for 21 students for the 2010/2011 class. We provided students with a variety of experts who will be interviewed and will provide the content for what ultimately will be placed on the website. We served as the 'experts' for about five sustainability subjects, and connected the remaining students to experts ranging from sustainable living through local government agencies with some great inititatives. We look forward to seeing the finished product!.....Go Here

Harrisburg Area Community College

Established on February 14, 1964 as Harrisburg Area Community College, HACC is devoted to the community and the individual. HACC's devotion to the community stems directly from our mission, which is to foster educational, cultural, work force development, and economic growth of the college service areas. The vehicle by which we do this is to give each of our students (the individuals) the tools and environment to develop his or her own unique potential. This creates an aura by which the communities HACC serves and each individual in those communities can benefit.

Fresco Green was fortunate to be a part of the Sustainability & Resource Management DACUM process in June 2010. A DACUM is the acronym for developing a curriculum. We enjoyed the exercise, and look forward to the time when this college offers an associates degree for sustainability professionals to enter the workforce. The last word we had was that it would be offered in 2011....Go Here

Lancaster County Conservation District

The mission of the Lancaster County Conservation District is to promote stewardship of the land, water, and other natural resources; to make all citizens aware of the interrelationships between human activities and the natural environment; to provide assistance for current efforts in natural resource conservation; and to develop and implement programs which promote the stewardship of natural resources; while enlisting and coordinating help from public and private sources in accomplishing this mission.

Fresco Green had the pleasure of hosting a tour of students from the Youth Conservation School. We interacted with the students and adults with a walk-through of our education & resource center, discuss issues related to managing our resources, including; air quality, water management, reduce, reuse, recycle and renew, as well as sustainably forested materials. We look forward to next years students stopping ny to see us!
